Protection refers to the preventative measures and the emergency response plans implemented at or near a drinking water facility.  Preventive measures reduce the risk to consumers and reduce the liability to the system owner.

Meeting this responsibility requires qualified and well trained operators to ensuring the optimum operation of waterworks systems which are essential in protecting both public health and the environment.
